Grateful Dead's Working Man's Dead - We remember the first time we spun this album on a cheap record player as teenagers. Wow, what a refreshing change and really, a musical revelation. Garcia and Lesh tried to ensure the album wouldn't sound like Pop music and they succeeded. Such a refreshing break from everything else on the radio in 1970. Here at Radio Mackinac, we do get tired of buying every remastered version of an LP with 5 seconds extra of something...but check out the Rhino remastered version that is available today. The acoustic tracks sound amazing and the live version of Black Peter is worth every penny and more.

Robert Plant & Alison Kraus
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss first performed together at a concert celebrating the music of Leadbelly. After a successful collaboration, Robert Plant suggested they record an album together and Raising Sand was born. Producer T Bone Burnett was asked to produce and he began the work of selecting musicians and material that would celebrate the strengths of both artists. Chosing blues and country music for their canvas, Robert Plant and Alison Kraus have delivered an album filled with the spirit unlike anything we have heard in a long time.
